Shamil Tagiyev - unanimously candidate post of the President of "AzerRos"

A meeting of the Federal Council of the Federal National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis of Russia (FNCA AzerRos) was held today. At the session, Shamil Alesker oglu Tagiyev was unanimously pushed out as a candidate for the post of the President of the Council of the Federal National and Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis of Russia (FNCA AzerRos). Almost all regional organizations supported his candidacy. Society of the Friends of Azerbaija  in Europe is also among those who want to see Shamil Tagiyev as president of the organisation.

Shamil Alesker oglu Tagiyev was born on 14 July 1986 in Ganja city. He received primary education in Ganja city at secondary school #19 named after Nekrasov. However, due to his family living in Moscow, he moved to Moscow and started to continue his education there. He is a graduate of the Moscow Academy of Finance and Law. He also holds a master's degree from the Center for Bible Studies and Jewish Studies of the Russian State University of Humanities. Shamil Aleskerovich has been awarded several times for his social and public activity with letters of commendation and honorary certificates, as well as diplomas of various bodies for services across the sports and cultural sector.

Until 2012, Shamil Tagiyev was the head of the youth wing of the All-Russian Azerbaijan Congress (AAC). In 2016, he served as Executive Director of the Moscow branch of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijan, and until 2018 was Director of the "Fund for the Development and Revival of Azerbaijani Culture".

From 2018 to the present time he has been the Chairman of the "Azerbaijani Community of Moscow" RPO (regional public organization) and is the Head of the Centre for South Caucasus Studies under the Russian Middle East Association. He is also a member of the Federal Council of the Federal National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis of Russia (FNCA AzerRos).

He speaks Azeri, Russian and Turkish.

He is married. He is the father of two children.
